Uncle Jonny

At 9:45pm last Saturday (25/08/2007) my sister gave birth to a healthy 7 pound 6 baby girl. Libby went into hospital at about 3pm on Saturday and 6 hours later (plus the other nine months) Charlotte Carmen Rose Lanzon was born. Which, of course, makes yours truly an Uncle for the first time. Gee I feel old! The amazing story here is Charlotte was naturally born on her due date. A rarity in today’s world.

Seeing Charlotte for the first time was certainly the highlight of the weekend. It makes up for the disappointment of Old Aquinians forfeiting and therefore cancelling my Hockey game on Saturday. It was a shame as I was looking forward to increasing my goal tally and enjoying a game of hockey.

As a side note my handy lead over Jess with our little goal tally competition has well and truly been squashed after Jess scored 7 goals over her last 2 games (including a hat-trick from her Sunday game). This puts Jess on 12, double the amount of goals I have. With one more game before my finals it is unlikely I’ll catch her.

The last major event of the weekend was the first Perth Glory home game for the A League season. We were a little worried leading up to the game as we didn’t receive our season tickets until last week. Someone in the Perth Glory office stuffed up! The game itself had plenty of entertaining moments. The Glory had many chances throughout the game. Unfortunately they don’t understand that you can shoot anywhere on the field, they’re not playing hockey! After all of Glory’s missed opportunities the game ended 0-0 which is a disappointment to Glory and certainly doesn’t reflect the game.
